About Roy Peires

Roy Peires is a hospitality entrepreneur and philanthropic advocate whose work has combined business leadership with long-term charitable engagement. Since the 1980s, he has been involved in the development of what became the IDILIQ Group, while also supporting a range of charitable initiatives focused on healthcare, community services, and social welfare.

Over several decades, Roy Peires has helped develop initiatives that connect the hospitality sector with charitable giving. Through the IDILIQ Foundation, he has supported organizations that provide assistance to individuals and families facing serious illness, disability, and economic hardship.

Early Philanthropic Engagement

Roy Peires’ charitable involvement on the Costa del Sol began shortly after the early development of his business activities in the region. One of the first organizations he supported was Cudeca, a charity that provides free specialised palliative care and emotional support to patients with advanced stages of terminal cancer and their families.

As part of his support, Roy Peires donated the reception area of Cudeca’s hospice facility and has continued to assist the organization through fundraising initiatives, sponsorship of the charity’s annual walkathon, and donations of equipment and materials for their network of charity shops. The IDILIQ Foundation has also supported the organization by providing a vehicle used by Cudeca’s home care team to visit patients across the province.

In addition, families receiving care from Cudeca have been invited to stay at IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts through the foundation’s Kind Holidays initiative, providing them with the opportunity to spend time together away from the pressures of medical treatment.

The IDILIQ Foundation

Through the IDILIQ Foundation, Roy Peires has supported a wide range of charitable organizations across southern Spain and beyond. The foundation’s activities include financial contributions, infrastructure development, logistical support, and volunteer initiatives designed to assist local charities and community organizations.

One of the most significant projects funded by the foundation was the construction of the F. Cruz Dias–ADIMI Care Centre in Mijas. The €1.6 million facility was developed to support the work of ADIMI, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

The centre provides services to hundreds of individuals and families through early intervention programs, youth services, occupational support, residential care for individuals with severe conditions, and therapeutic treatment facilities. The building includes consultation rooms for physiotherapy and psychotherapy, therapy spaces, gardens, dining facilities, and other specialized resources designed to support individuals with complex care needs.

The IDILIQ Foundation continues to support ADIMI through fundraising initiatives, equipment donations, and campaigns designed to improve the quality of life for its users.

Community and Healthcare Support

In addition to ADIMI and Cudeca, the IDILIQ Foundation has supported numerous organizations working across healthcare, disability services, and social welfare.

These include ongoing support for the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) in Málaga through internal fundraising campaigns dedicated to breast cancer awareness and support programs.

The foundation has also worked with Afesol, the Association of Families and Individuals with Mental Health Conditions, by providing equipment and furnishings for supervised housing facilities and supporting community initiatives focused on mental health awareness.

Other organizations supported through donations of computer equipment and resources include Fuensocial, Asociación Cadi, El Faro de la Escucha, and Asociación ALAS, among others.

The IDILIQ Foundation has also participated in seasonal community campaigns, including providing meals during the Christmas campaigns organized by Los Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche, an organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals in the region.

Support for Families Facing Medical Challenges

Another organization supported through the foundation’s initiatives is Casa Ronald McDonald Málaga, a facility that provides accommodation for families who live far from the hospital where their children are receiving medical treatment.

Fundraising events organized at IDILIQ resorts on the Costa del Sol and Tenerife have contributed to charitable initiatives supporting families facing serious medical circumstances.

Staff at IDILIQ resorts have also participated in charity fundraising activities, including the Mercedes-Benz Tour Amateur Golf Tournaments, raising funds for Asociación Nuevo Futuro, an organization that provides assistance to families experiencing economic hardship.

The Kind Holidays Initiative

One of the most widely recognized charitable programs associated with Roy Peires is Kind Holidays, an initiative developed through the IDILIQ Foundation that provides complimentary hotel accommodation to families facing significant personal challenges.

The program supports families with seriously ill or terminally ill children, bereavement charities, and organizations assisting members of the armed forces and their families.

Kind Holidays was first launched in 2012 in support of Give Us Time, a charity founded by former UK Defence Secretary Sir Liam Fox that organizes holidays for military personnel and their families, many of whom have experienced trauma or physical injury during service.

In 2016, the initiative expanded to include partnerships with charities supporting children’s hospices, bereavement organizations, and groups assisting families caring for children with life-limiting conditions.

Through Kind Holidays, thousands of individuals have been able to spend time together at IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts during periods of serious medical treatment, recovery, or personal hardship.

The initiative has also been developed as a model that other hospitality businesses can adopt. Roy Peires has publicly encouraged hotels, travel providers, and other hospitality organizations to consider how unused accommodation capacity could be used to support families in need.

International Educational Support

Beyond Spain, Roy Peires has also supported international charitable initiatives. For more than two decades he has been involved in supporting Christel House, an organization dedicated to providing education and long-term development opportunities for children in underserved communities around the world.

Christel House focuses on education, healthcare, and career development programs designed to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds build sustainable futures.

Continuing Advocacy

Roy Peires continues to advocate for collaboration between businesses and charitable organizations. Through initiatives such as the IDILIQ Foundation and Kind Holidays, his work reflects an ongoing interest in identifying practical ways that hospitality organizations can contribute to their communities.

His efforts emphasize partnerships with established charities, long-term community engagement, and the development of initiatives designed to provide meaningful support to individuals and families during difficult circumstances.
